Join us for a free, fun-filled afternoon of demonstrations and answers to horsey questions. Suitable for kids of all ages!
Not everyone knows about horses, so NNMHA is offering this program to give kids the chance to see, learn about and interact with a variety of equines*. Short interactive demonstrations showcasing various equine characteristics and abilities will run throughout the afternoon.

1:00pm Donkeys are Different : Donkeys are not just horses with long ears. They are special from their feet to their tails.
1:30pm Horseback Rescue : Specially trained horses are used by search and rescue groups to find people lost in the wilderness. Presented by the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Posse.
2:15pm Mighty Minis : Miniature equines have big hearts and can do more than look cute.
3:00pm Horses as Healers : How horses are used to help children and adults with physical or emotional disabilities. Presented by the New Mexico Center for Therapeutic Riding.
3:45pm English and Western : Different kinds of riding have developed to meet different purposes. See how clothing and saddles are right for each style.
4:30pm General Horsekeeping. : All the drama of having horses from feeding to wearing horseshoes.
Between demonstrations: Door prizes, hobbyhorse races, braying contest, various announcements and entertainment about horses.
*For safety reasons, there will be no riding offered at this event.
